Privacy

No account required. Here’s how your data is handled.

Last updated: 9 October 2026

Remote Viewing Lab is operated from the United Kingdom and is available to people worldwide. You do not need to create an account, and we do not ask you for a name or email address to use the experiment.

Optional Auripath audio guide

The optional audio guide on our /audio-guide/ page is embedded using a player supplied by Auripath (app.auripath.com). Loading the player connects your browser to Auripath. If you choose to unlock the guide by entering an email address, that address and any consent choice are sent to Auripath to provide the audio and manage the unlock.

The audio guide is separate from Remote Viewing Lab's blind experiment. You can use the experiment without supplying an email address or unlocking the guide. See the information displayed by Auripath at the point of email submission for details of that service's handling of your information.

What information we collect

The service creates a random anonymous browser identifier in a secure, HTTP-only cookie. This lets the browser return to its own sessions and results without an account.

We may also store the impressions and optional tags you submit, generated AI sketches, target and result information, result ranks, limited product-usage events and timestamps, voice-transcription metadata, and social-preview images created for revealed results.

If you use Speak Impressions, temporary audio is sent to Cloudflare Workers AI for transcription. Remote Viewing Lab does not persist the raw audio in D1 or R2. The returned transcript can be reviewed and edited before you continue.

Why we use this information

We use this information to operate the blind experiment, generate sketches and voice transcriptions, calculate and display results, maintain result history for the anonymous browser, enable sharing, protect the service from misuse, troubleshoot problems and understand basic product usage and reliability.

Legal basis

Where UK data-protection law applies, we rely primarily on legitimate interests to operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve this anonymous service. Those interests are providing a functioning experiment, maintaining its security and reliability, and understanding whether the product works as intended.

We do not use submitted impressions or anonymous session information to build advertising profiles or for personalised advertising.

Web analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand basic traffic such as page views, referrers, approximate country, device and browser type. It is configured without advertising trackers and does not use cookies to identify or follow visitors across websites.

Cloudflare and AI processing

Remote Viewing Lab uses Cloudflare infrastructure, including Workers, D1, R2 and Workers AI, to host and operate the service. Cloudflare therefore processes some information on our behalf as an infrastructure and technology provider.

Cloudflare states that customer content submitted to Workers AI is not used to train the AI models made available through Workers AI or to improve Cloudflare or third-party services unless the customer explicitly consents to that use.

International processing

The service is UK-operated but Cloudflare runs global infrastructure. Information may therefore be processed in countries outside the United Kingdom. Cloudflare's Data Processing Addendum includes safeguards for transfers of information protected by UK data protection law.

This notice is written from the perspective of UK data-protection law. Depending on where you live, additional local privacy rights may also apply.

Cookies and local storage

The anonymous browser cookie is used to associate this browser with its sessions and result history. It is not an advertising identifier.

While you are working on a session, unfinished impressions and selected tags may also be saved temporarily in your browser's local storage so that an accidental refresh does not immediately destroy your draft. Submitted drafts are removed from local storage as the session progresses. You can also remove local data through your browser's site-data controls.

On desktop informational pages, we may show a one-time reminder about the optional free audio guide when you move the pointer towards leaving. A browser session-storage flag prevents that reminder from repeatedly appearing in the same tab session. This flag does not contain your email address or experiment answers.

How long information is kept

Revealed session information and generated media do not currently have an automatic expiry date. They are kept while they are needed to provide result history and shared-result links, maintain the integrity and security of the experiment, troubleshoot the service and operate the product.

Information may be deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed for those purposes. Remote Viewing Lab does not retain the raw voice recording after transcription.

Sharing and public results

Before reveal, the session and hidden target are restricted using the anonymous browser identity. After a result has been revealed, the result and associated media can be accessed by someone who has the relevant direct result or unguessable sharing URL.

A shared result or social preview may contain your final submitted words, AI sketch, actual target image, library rank, percentile and outcome. It does not include the anonymous visitor identifier.

Because your submitted words can appear in a shared result, do not include names, contact details or other sensitive personal information in your impressions.

Your data-protection rights

Depending on the circumstances and the law that applies, you may have rights relating to access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and portability of personal information.

Because Remote Viewing Lab does not require an account or identity, locating a particular anonymous session may require information that links you to it, such as the relevant session or result URL.

If you are in the UK, you also have the right to raise concerns with the Information Commissioner's Office. Information about data protection rights and complaints is available at ico.org.uk.
